Belgium’s presence at World Expos dates from the very first, the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. Belgium is a founding member of the BIE and organised the first World Expo recognised by the Organisation in 1935. It is one of the countries that has hosted the most Expos and is also a regular and notable participant in World and Specialised Expos.
