In the first round of voting, Member States voted for Saudi Arabia’s project to organise World Expo 2030 in the city of Riyadh under the theme The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow between 1 October 2030 and 31 March 2031.

The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow
The theme for Expo 2030 Riyadh The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow encapsulates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to create Expo 2030 as a global platform that accelerates progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Riyadh will work with the global community under three inclusive sub-themes, to harness science and innovation in service of a better future, for all humanity and our planet:
A Different Tomorrow - Science, innovation, and cutting-edge technologies hold rich opportunities to develop communities that are more sustainable, better-connected, and meet our fundamental human needs.
Climate Action - The accelerating impact of climate change requires creative solutions that will build our security, drive our development, and safeguard our planet.
Prosperity for All - A better, more prosperous future must highlight and include the voices, needs, and contributions of all countries and communities.
Designed as a futuristic city around an ancient valley (wadi), the site will embody both the “oasis” and “garden” origins of Riyadh, and the vision of the country to pioneer a sustainable future for all cities and communities.
The accessible site will cover 600 hectares and will provide immersive experiences for more than 28 million visitors, including a country pavilion for every nation, and a variety of entertainment spaces. The site’s strategic location is just one metro stop away from the new iconic King Salman International Airport.
Expo 2030 Riyadh will also be geared to empower participants. Set to welcome a record-breaking 197 Participating Countries and 29 International Organisations, the Expo will feature an enabling governance framework that facilitates seamless construction and operations.
Founded on a thriving oasis more than 2,700 years ago, Riyadh is now the heart of the region: the capital city of Saudi Arabia and a global economic and cultural center. The city’s iconic landmarks, temperate weather, lively arts and entertainment scene, already make Riyadh one of the most visited cities in the world.
Riyadh is now driving forward innovation on healthy, sustainable, and connected living. Riyadh is also a preferred destination for global business and talent, and is rapidly becoming a top global economy, with leadership in commerce, culture, sports, and entertainment.
Building on its rich history of hospitality and openness, Riyadh stands ready to welcome the world in 2030.
