Sweden has been participating in Expos since the very first, the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. As a signatory of the 1928 Paris Convention, Sweden is a founding member of the BIE. It has organised two Specialised Expos in Stockholm (in 1936 and 1949) and a Specialised Expo in Helsingborg in 1955. At World Expo 2010 Shanghai, Sweden received a gold award for creative display.
