The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), in collaboration with the World Expo Museum, hosted a dialogue event titled "Empowering the Future: Women and Expos" at the Women's Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai on 7 October 2025.
This event brought together a diverse group of women involved in Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai to explore the roles and impact of women within the framework of Expos. Its main objective was to highlight the significant contributions made by women in Expos, and particularly in Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, explore women’s empowerment through Expos and formulate actionable strategies for the future. The subject of the discussion also chimed with the theme of the 2025 edition of the BIE Bulletin, entitled "Opening the Way: Women and World Expos".

As Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai enters its final days, the concluding Theme Week — “SDGs+Beyond: Future Society for Life” (2–12 October 2025) — invites participants and visitors to reflect on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the path forward. With discussions exploring how societies can evolve towards more equitable, innovative, and resilient systems, the programme provides an ideal moment to consider how Expos contribute to shaping a sustainable future.
The question of what role Expos play in today’s world is at the heart of a recent video produced by the United Nations. The video highlights how Expos bring people and ideas together, demonstrating that face-to-face exchange remains essential for building collective progress.
