The Kingdom of Tonga has participated in Expos since Specialised Expo 1985 Tsukuba. Since then, it has regularly participated in World and Specialised Expos. In order to strengthen its involvement in Expos, the Kingdom of Tonga became a Member of the BIE in 2007. At Specialised Expo 2008 Zaragoza, it was rewarded with a Gold Award in its category for the design of its presentation.
