The participation of the Republic of Slovenia in International Exhibitions began with Specialised Expo 1998 in Lisbon. The country joined the BIE in 2004. Since then, it has participated in various World and Specialised Expos. At World Expo 2010 Shanghai, it was rewarded with a Gold Award in its category for the design of its participation.
