Resolution for postponement of Expo 2020 Dubai surpasses required two-thirds threshold

The postponement of Expo 2020 Dubai to 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022 is set to be approved by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), with the change of dates having already surpassed the required two-thirds threshold. On the proposal of the Executive Committee, the General Assembly of the BIE began voting remotely on 24 April and will continue until 29 May. BIE regulations stipulate that a two-thirds majority of Member States holding the right to vote is required for the dates of an Expo to be changed.
