Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai names 10 producers

Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai Organisers have selected 10 producers to develop the theme and the venue of the World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.

The producers will be tasked with designing and managing the venues of the Expo and engaging with focus areas in line with the theme of the Expo “Design Future Society for Our Lives”.

Planner and Producer Masaru Ishikawa will be in charge of managing the venues while architect Sosuke Fujimoto will be in charge of designing them.

In line with the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai and its 3 subthemes “Saving Lives”, “Empowering Lives” and “Connecting Lives”, eight focus areas will be developed by dedicated producers.

Biologist and professor at Aoyama Gakuin University, Shinichi Fukuoka is responsible for confirming the ideal way of life in our entire life system.

Animation and mechanic designer, Shoji Kawamori is appointed to making the connections of all “life” living in our universe, ocean, and earth to protect and nurture one another.

Film director, Naomi Kawase will seek to protect life and resist “disunity” by reigniting our compassion and addressing the diversity of human life.

Broadcasting writer, Kundo Koyama is to consider the value of sharing a meal as an act that connects people.

Roboticist and Professor Emeritus of Osaka University, Hiroshi Ishiguro will explore the possibility of expanding the functions and abilities of human “life” with new science and technology.

Musician and mathematician, Sachiko Nakajima will look to enhance life and establish a place of co-creation by feeling joy though playing and learning, and sports and art.

Media artist, Yoichi Ochiai will pursue an artform that is in harmony with nature by blending the natural and the artificial, the physical and the virtual.

Professor of medicine at Keio University, Hiroaki Miyata is to search for a world where individualities and collectivities live in harmony.

 Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai names 10 producers

Themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai aims to be a platform to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Planned on a 155-hectare site in Yumeshima Island in the Bay of Osaka, the Expo, as indicated in the Registration Dossier, is scheduled to take place from 13 April to 13 October 2025.
