The Solomon Islands participated for the first time in an International Exhibition at Specialised Expo 1985 Tsukuba. Since then, it has regularly been present at World and Specialised Expos. In order to strengthen its involvement in Expos, it joined the BIE in 2007. It was rewarded with a Gold Award in its category for the design of its participation at Specialised Expo 2008 Zaragoza.
