The United States has organised and participated in World Expos since the 19th century. Since the foundation of the BIE, the United States has hosted two World Expos and four Specialised Expos, the last of which was held in New Orleans in 1984. The country regularly participates in Specialised and World Expos, and is recognised for the quality of its participation. The United States’ pavilion at World Expo 2005 Aichi, for example, received an award for its content.
