The fifth Coordination meeting was held at the Bureau International des Exposition (BIE) on May 16th, 2012.
The Coordination meeting aims to establish a friendly cooperation among candidates and to provide a chance for transparent discussions between candidates and the BIE.
Seven delegations, from two candidate countries for International Expo 2017 and five for World Expo 2020, came to discuss and coordinate their candidature campaigns.
Representatives were informed of the technical details for delegations, VIP receptions, presentation rehearsals and media registration during the upcoming 151th General Assembly on 11th and 12th June.
The meeting also talked about plans of symposiums to be held by World Expo 2020 candidates next year.
Two symposiums of Expo 2017 candidates will be held this year – Astana, Kazakhstan from June 27 to 29, and Liege, Belgium from September 19 to 21.
The vote to decide the host of Expo 2017 will take place during General Assembly in November 2012.
And Izmir of Turkey, Ayutthaya of Thailand, Sao Paulo of Brazil, Yekaterinburg of Russia and Dubai of United Arab Emirates, are in competition for hosting World Expo 2020.
