At such an international and multicultural gathering, not only national and local government, citizens, and volunteers, but also religious groups, have showed their support for Expo 2012.

''Yeogichong' members serve as volunteers for Yeosu Expo.

In Yeosu, protestant churches make up more than 30 percent of all 550 local churches. The Christian Council of Yeosu, Yeogichong in Korean, was formed in September 2010 by all the churches and the 12 Christian groups, to support Expo 2012 Yeosu.

The Christian Council of Yeosu organized a "church stay" program to help the city provide accommodation to visitors during the Expo period when local hotels are full.

The council encourages churches to offer lodging services, with shower, air-conditioning, and breakfast for 10,000 won (about 7 euros) per night, and is welcoming about 4,800 guests in 108 churches each day.

Besides the regular prayer meetings for the Expo, the council invites visitors to come and see the Expo.

The council joined the "Four Major Expo Campaign", an initiative to keep the city clean, keep public order, welcome visitors and serve the community during the Expo. It has opened church parking spaces and restrooms to the public, promotes the Expo, and provides voluntary interpretation services.

Its members serve as "citizen supporters" for national day events of participating countries, and in particular for developing countries and countries with which Yeosu has twinning programs.
