Tangier 2012 Forum
On May 24 2007, the organising committee for the bid of Tanger Expo 2012 welcomed the representatives of the BIE member states that will participate to the Forum “Routes of the World and Intercultural Dialogue” on 25th and 26th May 2007.

The city of Tangier gave a very warm welcome: the citizens expressed their support all along the streets of the city, where the flags of the BIE and of Expo Tangier 2012 fly.

Along the road, the three highly symbolic stops were organised. The first stop was at the hôtel Mirage, where a welcome cocktail was awaiting the delegates and the representatives of the BIE member states. On this occasion, the Mayor of Tangier, Mr. Adil RÏSS, the Wali of Tangier and Mr. Benallal made brief speeches reinforcing the strong will of the Marocan government and of its citizens to host the Expo in 2012. The President of the BIE thanked the city of Tangier for their warm hospitality.
The second stop was at the Cap Spartel Lighthouse, a symbolic place where the Mediterranean sea, meets the Atlantic Ocean highlighting Morocco’s unique opening from Africa towards Europe and the world.
The third and last stop was at the Perdicaris Park where the BIE and each member state planted a tree.
The President of the BIE had the honour of planting the BIE tree.
Tomorrow, Friday 25th May, the first session of the Tangier Symposium begins.
